The OnwarD Think Tank was established in order to develop an environment of open, collaborative innovation in the field of organization development and change, without the restrictions that sometimes exist with gatekeepers of professions, organizations, fields of practice, specialties, or products. Our Think Tank focuses on collaborative work surrounding organizations and their functions, operations, structures, change processes, and how OD & C practitioners can be best prepared to facilitate the optimization of talent and effectiveness of strategies, systems, and projects. OnwarD is focused on moving the field forward and onward with the changing and emerging business and social environment, and professionalization of the field of organization development and change.
What's in a name? It is no accident that the name of the think tank begins with an O and ends with a D, as the majority of the work collaborated on in the Think Tank focuses on the growth, change, and development that needs to happen within our field of OD in order to remain abreast of the changes in the organizational environment, and to aid organizations in their necessary transformations and improvements. OnwarD is about advancing OD at a rate aligned with the evolution and advancement of organizations.
Help advance the field, including skills, competencies, pedagogy, research, and practice. For those interested in participating, pre-registration for one of the three different sessions of the OnwarD Think Tank will open on March 1st, for those registered for the conference. The OnwarD Think Tank sessions have a limited number of participant seats, but will be open, including during the conference, until the seats are filled.
At the ISODC@SHU Conference, the OnwarD Think Tank will hold it's inaugural sessions focused on moving the field forward and onward. The attention during these participatory action research sessions will be placed on (1) identifying and defining the strategy of moving the ODC field forward, including professionalization of the field, (2) coalescing on the competencies and skills necessary in today's ODC environment, and (3) identifying the direction of ODC pedagogy, including curricula, scholarship, and research. This work will provide data that will be used in publication in the Organization Development Journal, and will move forward collaboratively to continue the work of advancing the field of ODC. As such, there will be a large project with three focus sessions held on Sunday, May 25th, at ODSHUCON. If you're interested in participating in the OnwarD Think Tank sessions, register for ODSHUCON today, continue to follow the updates on the site, and you may contact shufutinskya@sacredheart.edu with any questions.
